Fuel/Water Separators for Heavy-Duty Diesel

Water in diesel costs injectors. The separator costs less.

Diesel does not mix with water willingly. But a long-haul tank picks up condensation every cold night, and any roadside fill from a contaminated underground storage tank arrives with water already suspended in the fuel. By the time the mixture reaches the high-pressure rail, the water in it is no longer a nuisance. It is the difference between firing six injectors and replacing them.

The fuel/water separator is the first stage of filtration on most Class 8 trucks. It drops free water into a sediment bowl at the bottom of the housing, which the driver drains by hand at fuel stops. Steinberg stocks 14 separator SKUs covering Cummins (ISX/X15, ISB6.7/L9, N14), Detroit (DD5/DD8, DD13/DD15/DD16), Volvo (D11/D13), Mack (MP7/MP8), and PACCAR (MX-11/MX-13) engine programs in current service, plus the Davco Pro 245, 382, 386, 387, and 388 housings. Each is cross-referenced to Fleetguard FS- and FK-series part numbers and ships same-day from Hodgkins, IL. NET-30 terms for qualified fleet accounts. For pure particulate filtration without water separation, see our Fuel Filters collection.
