Every diesel a Detroit DD-series engine has ever pulled across a state line has carried, somewhere upstream of the high-pressure injector, water it did not want. Condensation from cold tanks. Trace moisture in fuel polished at a low-volume terminal. Rain that found its way past a worn fill cap on a downpour. The fuel/water separator is the part that decides whether that water ever reaches an injector tip running at thirty thousand PSI, and the FF030 is what Detroit specified for the DD-series program. It is a spin-on filter with a serviceable bowl, a drain valve, and a media stack rated to hold back any free water that arrives at the inlet before the engine notices.
