The Detroit Series 60 was introduced in 1987 and stayed in production until 2011, by which point it had earned a reputation that the engines that replaced it have spent fifteen years trying to live up to. The DD13, DD15, and DD16 that succeeded it carry the same expectation, with tighter emissions hardware between the cylinder and the tailpipe.
